From what it is, to how to do darn near everything, I hope to reveal it all within this blog so that others can also jump in while the iron is hot and travel with me from rags to riches as we play a game together!
Ok, so let's get on with it already. What is Afterworld in a nutshell? I'll tell you but I'm not doing it in a nutshell!
Afterworld is an online game from our friends in Russia. While the commute may seem far, it is well worth it for this online experience that has great potential as a real cash economy game. While still in beta, the game is superbly playable unlike another RCE game which will remain nameless. Great graphics and a system of skilling allow your earnings to grow as your avatar gets stronger and you unlock new features.
The potential for playing your way to riches is also a key reason to get in and play as soon as possible!
Afterworld Survival is coming soon, another reason to get in and start playing now before the game is live and you have more competition to compete with!

Day 1 - Happy Birthday
Game installed, account created, all patched up, woot woot! Its time to plaaAAAAAY! But wait, what the heck is all this stuff on my screen? I thought I had skills, why cant I see those? How come I can't fight anything? Am I stuck in this zone? Wait, waiiit, hold on now. We'll explain all of that in this video in part one of this series.
Basic Game Operation and first steps to take.
First Video - The Basics
After this video you should be able to move about town, get your first utilities, and gather resources.
There is also a built-in auto-clicker you can take advantage of, it takes a moment to get used to though: While using a weapon/utility, left-click and hold down the mouse button and press the space bar twice. Now when you let go of the mouse button your item will still be functioning on auto pilot. If at any point you go away from keyboard and do not touch the mouse for more than a certain time (around 10 minutes) then it will automatically log you out of the game, this includes auto-clicking!
For more information, seek out the Newcomer Tutorial NPCs in town. Find one and right click on them, choose the "Who are you? Where am I? I don't remember anything." option to start the tutorial. The NPCs work in shifts, but each of them will give the same result. They will explain how to collect resources, how to refine them, and how crafting works. Each Warrant officer will offer a random collection quest for minerals, once they have chosen what they want then that particular officer will always request the same item until the job is done. The trick with these guys is that you can wait for one of their associates to replace them and have another chance at finding a lower-value resource job to do. There is always the chance that they will randomly all choose the same mineral, which sucks when they ask for Lead.
Newbie Tutorial NPCs:
Major V Ivanov
Lieutenant B Cook
Lieutenant L D Valto
Captain B Parin
Crafting:
Shift Engineer N Svetloff
Shift Engineer E Putachev
Shift Engineer S Noshkin
Chief Engineer Petrovich
Refining:
Resources Refining Engineer T Rensalier
Resources Refining Engineer A van Buuren
Natural Resources Manager M Behrmann
Natural Resources Accountant B Willis
This is available only to newcomers, once you have achieved citizenship, you will no longer be able to craft in this area.
In the center of town (or the building you arrive at when you revive), there are storage banks for you to store all of your items. Since items all have weight, it is a good idea to store resources or extra items you don't need at the moment. Be warned however, the storage for this area, as with all others, is not linked together. If you leave something in a storage you also need to remember which area you left it in!
Now that the formalities are out of the way, let's get on to making some money!

Welcome to Jail
Ok so you are in Quarantine as the name of the zone suggests, which is basicly a policed area which you cannot leave. Your mission here is to earn citizenship in order to leave this zone.
The privates from the Afterworld State Security Bureau (AWSSB) will assist you in which ever choice you make because there are two ways of doing this:
You must give one of the following to NPC Sergeant R Hripko (or one of his
associates located in the same place) who is in the east office building in town.
1. Get 50 Promissory Notes (received from the Warrant Officers)
2. Pay 100 AWD (from selling resources or donating to the game)
The main difference between the two options is that if you obtain citizenship through Promissory Notes (P.Notes), you will receive a starter's pack of tools, a weapon, and a healkit.
If you pay the 100 AWD you will receive an RIC Certificate which will be used in the Survival expansion for corporations.
Ok so how do you make money? Click here to find out in my second video of Rags to Riches. After this video you should be well on your way to making money and becoming a citizen.
